Dismantle A World
Edge of the World Song.
This is an offering. An Embodiment of the edge of the world.
Dismantle A World is a land-based performance series by sound/video artist Dylan McLaughlin. This series sits within the larger umbrella - The People Who Invent The Tools To Invent The Dismantling of a World In Harmony. TPWITTTITDOAWIH is in itself an embodiment of the monsters that we live among that shape landscapes. It’s using “corporate ritual” to self reflect what it means to dismantle a world in harmony. We live among monsters. This work is a monster.
Edge of the World Song uses these processes to honor and speak to being on the edge. Leaving a world and stepping into another. What happens when we stand on the edge of the world?
This is an ongoing series.
Featuring over 30 artists Indigenous to North America and the Pacific, STTLMNT is designed as a creative response and claiming of digital space to consider the impacts of colonization on a diverse number of tribal nations who continue to thrive despite its long term effects.
Originally a month-long encampment in Central Park, Plymouth, UK, to take place summer of 2020 within the context of the Mayflower 400 commemoration events, Settlement was intended to go beyond conversations of Decolonization and actively practice Indigenization as a radically immersive onsite experience. Physical engagement was halted due to the pandemic and has been reimagined as STTLMNT, a vibrant digital occupation. This project has been in process for two years and we are thrilled to finally open the project to our global audience on October 13, 2020!
Across the winter, STTLMNT will include performance, artist discussions, social engagement, mini docs and new work, all online. This project facilitates an honest representation of complex living Indigenous cultures, intersectionality and the Indigenous led new media and theory.
STTLMNT features the work of Dayna Danger, Demian DinéYazhi ́, Raven Chacon & Candice Hopkins, Cannupa Hanska Luger, Laura Ortman, Sonya Kelliher-Combs, Tania Willard, Emily Johnson, Jeremy Dennis, Yatika Starr Fields, Sterlin Harjo, Marie Watt, Eric-Paul Riege, Tania Larsson, Raven Halfmoon, Elisa Lorraine Harkins, Haley Greenfeather English, Katherine Paul, Christine Howard Sandoval, Santiago X, Nicholas Galanin, Nanibah & Autumn Chacon, Rory Wakemup, Dakota Camacho, Jade Begay & Stina Hamlin, Razelle Benally, Kathy Whitman, Ian Kuali'i, Dylan McLaughlin
